Doc Jazz is back with a new song: Closer To Me

That is, technically, it’s not a new song, but it is definitely a brand new production. The song saw its first release in 2005, and later emerged with a new version in 2010. However, the new release is the final one. It outshines the other two in recording quality and production, musicianship, and feel.

Closer To Me

The song is a (neo-)soul ballad about a topic that you might possibly be able to relate to. Following the news, and watching the world becoming ever more polarized in the Trump-era can be exhausting. Conflicts only thrive, and there are no indications of any improvements on the horizon.

Sometimes we just feel a need for a temporary retreat into our own personal sphere, with our loved ones. How else are we going to maintain the energy we need in order to be able to deal with the deplorable state of an ever more militaristic and materialistic world? Well, that’s the feeling that the song is trying to express.

So, what makes the big difference in the new version? The live drums, the involvement of a bass guitarist, the addition of a saxophone and an ethereal and shining female backing vocal? I guess it is up to you to decide …

Another small change is that the song title was changed from “Come Closer” to “Closer To Me”.

Check out the lyrics video below, and you will hear that these new ingredients have definitely lifted the track to a higher level. Enjoy, and share!
