Oxygen – you’re the O2 in my atmosphere

Oxygen (Can’t Live Without Your Love) is a new release by Doc Jazz. That is, it’s not entirely new. Written in 2016, it appeared on the Youtube channel before. However, it has undergone some minor tweaks. The focus was on improving its sound, and the new version is now online with a lyrics video.

You wouldn’t exactly expect a love song to have a chemical formula in its lyrics, would you? Well, some say that love is chemistry, so it’s all coming together in this mid-tempo funky track. A thumping synth bass, a “Daft Punk” kind of “vocoderish” effect on the Oxygen, and some real saxophone riffs that complement the synth hook.

It has a positive vibe, that hopefully many can relate to. In more than one way, it’s the opposite of the 2018 song How Does It Feel. Electronic instrumentation (except for the saxophone, by Slick Sax from the USA), upbeat versus slow, excitement versus melancholy … it’s truly an entire different sound and feel.

Varying styles

Those who are familiar with the music of Doc Jazz know that when it comes to musical styles, he is literally all over the place. True, you aren’t likely to meet trance, EDM or death metal in his repertoire. Nevertheless, never assume that if you’ve heard one Doc Jazz song, you have heard them all. It’s actually quite the opposite. The songs of Doc Jazz take you on a trip through widely differing musical styles. The topics also show a wide variety.

If this has made you curious, just browse through his large song collection. No doubt, you will find yourself confirming the above.

Also be sure to check out Oxygen! The previous release didn’t make it to the Doc Jazz website. However, this is really the final version, so here it is. Scroll down and watch (and hopefully share) the video, which guides you through the lyrics from start to end.

Hope you enjoy!
