Samer Issawi Wins! Thank you Twitterstormers! Overview of your hard work

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedintumblrmail

Samer Issawi Wins !You must have heard it by now: Samer Issawi, in an incredible victory over his Zionist oppressors, has managed to force the Israeli military occupation on its knees with nothing but an empty stomach, and make them accept a deal to release him. He will be released on December 23, 2013, and has agreed to end his 278 day hunger strike in return.

As you know, the Free Samer Issawi Campaign has been waging daily Twitterstorms for more than two and a half months, which is an almost unprecedented feat in Twitter history, especially considering the fact that despite the long and protracted period of time, the hashtag repeatedly managed to trend on the Worldwide trend list, at times even for as long as 40 – 50 minutes.

The main driving force behind this activity is the powerful inspiration by Samer Issawi, legendary Palestinian hunger striker, the man who waged the longest hunger strike in history and inspired the masses with his resilience, his strength, his determination, his loyalty, and his empowering messages.

The team behind the hashtags consisted of Palestinian activists Abbas Hamideh, Daleen Elshaer, Omar Daraghmeh, Suzanne Awartani, Rania Malhas and Tariq Shadid (aka Doc Jazz). Follow them on Twitter here: .

However, none of this would have been possible without the fantastic participation of hundreds, at times even thousands of dedicated Twitterstormers, tirelessly sending out their tweets to call for Samer’s freedom. The instructions that were posted elsewhere on this website were often followed meticulously, which helped the trending be successful.

We are unbelievably impressed with your dedication. We found it heart-warming to see how dedicated the Twitterstormers were, often even sending tweets to apologize if the circumstances of their daily life did not allow them to participate on any given day. This fantastic loyalty is a tremendous source of hope. All of you, Twitterstormers, deserve a HUGE thank you for this hard work. Words fall short in expressing our appreciation for your confidence in our team, and most of all, for your dedicated loyalty to our beloved hero Samer Issawi.

Here below, you can see all the hashtags that you helped make trending, although only those starting February 12th are included. As you probably know, the Twitterstorms started before that, but we only started collecting the screenshots later. We hope that seeing the fruits of your hard work will inspire you in your undoubtedly continued support for the Palestinian cause.

If the Zionists break their deal – and we know that they have a habit of doing so – we will call upon you again, to hit the Twitterwaves with us, and storm the timelines. But for now, let us cheer for Samer Issawi! Thank you Twitterstormers!

On behalf of the Free Samer Issawi Campaign,
