Great news ! Jewishjournal.com has published the press release of ‘Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces’, which confirms earlier rumors that Stevie Wonder was going to cancel his performance at their fundraising event.

Before, this link contained an article analyzing the rumors circulated by JTA, with a message of caution to wait until official confirmation before announcing the withdrawal of Stevie Wonder. But now we can breathe a sigh of relief: he really has cancelled ! As promised, I will remove the music video ‘Injudicious’, although I will leave the lyrics here at the bottom of this article.

But first, let’s look at what Jewishjournal has made public today, which includes the press release from FIDF:

[quote]

Legendary pop musician Stevie Wonder has cancelled his performance scheduled for the Dec. 6 FIDF Gala in Los Angeles saluting IDF Soldiers. The event is sponsored by philanthropists Haim and Cheryl Saban.

The 25-time Grammy winner was to appear for an expected 1,200 FIDF supporters, including dignitaries from the U.S. and Israel, at the FIDF Western Region Gala, which is also scheduled to feature Grammy Winner David Foster & Friends with “Seinfeld” Veteran Jason Alexander as Emcee.

According to a press release issued on the morning of Nov. 29:

“Representatives of the performer cited a recommendation from the United Nations to withdraw his participation given Wonder’s involvement with the organization.  FIDF National Director and CEO, Maj. Gen. (Res.) Yitzhak (Jerry) Gershon: ‘we regret the fact that Stevie Wonder has decided to cancel his performance at an important community event of the FIDF, an American organization supporting the educational, cultural, and wellbeing needs of Israel’s soldiers, their families, and the families of fallen soldiers. FIDF is a non-political organization that provides much-needed humanitarian support regardless of religion, political affiliation, or military activity.’”

About “Injudicious

The music video and song that I quickly recorded and assembled to express my feelings about the planned gig, is called ‘Injudicious’, and is based on Stevie Wonder’s world hit ‘Superstitious’. It’s the first time I ever published something that was not entirely written by me, since this is basically the same song as the Stevie Wonder one, but with different lyrics. It purely served an activist video with an important message.

Since the official cancellation has now been made public I have removed the music video from Youtube. It serves no further purpose to keep it online now that we are sure the music legend has come to his senses.

I will leave the lyrics published here below. Here are also two screenshots (1) and (2), it may be nice to read the comments. The video that remained online only for a little more than 24 hours, had 35 likes, one dislike and 12 comments. It was viewed 1,081 times, but this had not yet appeared on the main Youtube screen and was only visible in the Video Manager.

Congratulations to everyone who helped in the protest ! You did a wonderful job !

INJUDICIOUS – the lyrics

Very injudicious, siding with the vile
Very injudicious, gravely lacking style
Thirteen month old babies
murdered by their flames
Decades of oppression
Based on faulty claims

Did you believe the lies by invading tribes
That made us suffer
You’re injudicious all the way

Very injudicious, your reputation stained
Zionist Apartheid, can never be your gain
Did they pay you dollars, were u blinded by your greed
Listen to the scholars, wicked is their creed

When you engage in things that you don’t understand
All will suffer
You’re injudicious all the way, yeah, yeah

Very injudicious, nothin’ more to say
Very injudicious, the devil’s on your way
Racist occupation, is that the side you choose
Seems like you’ve forgotten, the evil always lose

I can’t believe that I was your biggest fan
Until you blundered
Injudicious all the way
