Description: Collection of essays by Palestinian writer Tariq Shadid, about developments in the Middle East.
Synopsis:

Tariq Shadid is a Palestinian surgeon residing in the Netherlands, who
wrote numerous articles and essays about political developments in the
Middle East in the beginning years of the 21st century. In this same
period, Shadid sought to campaign for the Palestinian cause in various
ways, mostly through writing and public speaking. He participated in
Gretta Duisenberg's committee 'Stop the Occupation', was an active
spokesman in the Dutch media for the Stop the War Coalition, and board
member of the Palestinian Community in the Netherlands. This book
collects his essays chronologically, with a timeline that helps you
remember the context in which the articles were written. Some basic
knowledge about the Palestinian cause is helpful in order to fully
appreciate the content and messages of his articles. The book does not
aim to be a complete introduction to the Palestinian situation.
However, for those who are trying to make more sense of what went on in
Palestine in the beginning of this turbulent century, this book is an
invaluable read.
