My Palestinian Realization - by Adam Akkad
Sunday, 19 February 2012 06:32

By Adam Akkad - The moment I stopped believing in the 2 state solution was the moment I realized that the path to freedom for Palestine travels through the Palestinian people. Many in the Palestinian community continue to have hope in negotiations and the so called ‘peace process’ due to a belief that only Israel can improve our condition. Our problems will never be solved by Israel; we must solve them on our own. One of the most fatal flaws we can make is to fall in the trap of defining the conflict in the same manner as the oppressor.

The 2 state solution represents the consensus among western power elites and some Arab elites regarding how to produce ambiguous conditions for how to preserve and legitimize Israeli land grabs and colonization. Refugee rights and the sharp dichotomy between the actions of the Palestinian Authority and the desires of the Palestinian people are negated entirely.

Khader Adnan: dying 2 live - new poster
Monday, 13 February 2012 15:28

For many days now, Khader Adnan has been waging a principled hunger strike against the treatment of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. At the time of this blog post, his hunger strike has been going on for 58 days. Khader was imprisoned in December without any charges, a very common practice of the Israeli occupier. After having been subjected to torture and humiliation - which is also standard practice in Israeli jails in these cases - he decided he would no longer accept these humiliations, and went into a hunger strike.

For the majority of this time, the majority of media have been ignoring his brave stance, despite the outcry by Palestinian citizens. Now that his life is in real danger, some media have started to report on it, but more significant than this is the response of Palestinian public opinion. Today, determined protesters braved a rain of rubber bullets and tear gas as they rallied at Ofer prison near the Palestinian village of Beitunia. A large number of other Palestinian prisoners have joined his hunger strike, and more are joining every day. The total number of hunger strikers is now reported to have reached 80, some of them being already on their 20th day of going without food.

Palestinians for Dignity: no return to negotiations!
Wednesday, 01 February 2012 15:58
DEMONSTRATION IN RAMALLAH ON SATURDAY the 4th! DETAILS POSTED BELOW ---- ---- At a time when the Amman "exploratory talks" have reached a dead end, much like other negotiation attempts which have been failing for the past 20 years, representatives of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) will consult this Saturday February 4th with the Arab League Follow-up Committee about ways out of the political impasse, including the possibility of a return to negotiations, in complete disregard to the Palestinian majority which rejects negotiations under the current circumstances.

Pressure is growing on the PLO to return to negotiations despite Israel's on going colonization of our land, ongoing arrests, demolition of Palestinian homes, and denial of Palestinians’ basic rights inside and outside of occupied Palestine. Instead of challenging the Israeli government's colonial policies and holding it accountable to international law, Ms. Catherine Ashton, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, is exerting even more pressure on the PLO and urging a return to negotiations.

Call it as it is: 8th annual Israeli Apartheid Week
Friday, 03 February 2012 10:49

For the 8th time in a row, organizers from across the world band together this year to organize a worldwide IAW: Israeli Apartheid Week. Last year, 97 cities participated, and if you get involved you can help make this year a gigantic success as well. This year the week take place around Februari-March, depending on where in the world you live. The organizers have taken existing university schedules into account, in order to ensure that as many as possible will be able to participate.

Those who are not blinded by the favoritism among media and politicians that 'Israel' enjoys in the West, are very well aware that the Zionist state exerts its dominance upon occupied Palestine on the basis of an inherently racist system that is deeply embedded in the ideological tenets of Zionism. Conscientious citizens from around world are however waking up to these facts, and their numbers are increasing every year. The Israeli Apartheid Week is a yearly chance for all these people to draw awareness to the horrendous injustices perpetrated by the Zionist state upon the Palestinians, in a coordinated way that aims to empower BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) activities around the world.

Doc Jazz is scheduled to participate in the Palestine IAW on March 18th, at 3.30 pm, by speaking with Gaza live over the Skype network. This was organized by activists based in besieged Gaza from the One Democratic State Group (ODSG) and the Palestinian Students' Campaign for the Academic Boycott of Israel (PSCABI).

Palestinian Culture - by Abbas Hamideh
Thursday, 26 January 2012 13:52

The Palestinian culture is part and parcel of the Arab and Islamic world. The Palestinians are deeply rooted in their rich culture and history which contains all 3 major religions of the Abrahamic faith with Islam being the dominant faith practiced by the majority of Palestinians. The Palestinian society and their Holy Land is also solidly connected with the oldest Christian community in the world where Issa (Jesus) was in fact born. Yes, like it or not, Jesus was Palestinian.

The culture includes phenomenal art, poetry, embroidery, fine cuisine and of course music of the land. The most famous of poetry is by Palestinian National poet Mahmud Darwish which echoes across the land and every corner of the Earth and even sang by the most of popular Arab singers like Marcel Khalifa.
