Free song of the week: Falasteen (el 3alam)

This week’s free song is one of Doc Jazz’s Arabic songs and it’s called Falasteen (el 3alam), which means Palestine (The Flag). This song pays tribute to the cause for Palestinian freedom, and in its chorus says that the (Palestinian) flag will be raised over a free Palestine and a free Al Quds (Jerusalem). The style of the song features a mix of modern and traditional instruments, which is also reflected in the beat, which mixes funky rhythms with Arabic rhythmical themes.

 

This track was also used in a video on Youtube which showcases images of the land of Palestine through the lens of Ahmad Mesleh, Palestinian photographer. You can see the video here below.

Doc Jazz

Doc Jazz is a Palestinian musician, currently based in the United Arab Emirates. He was born and raised in the Netherlands, which is where he started his first musical endeavors. He works full-time as a surgeon, and produces his songs in his free time. He usually does all the instruments and vocals in his recordings by himself. His music, which covers a wide variety of genres ranging from funky pop and jazz all the way to rap and Arabic music, has been featured on many media outlets in the Netherlands, in the Middle East, and elsewhere. The Palestinian cause plays a big role in the themes of his songs.
