New poster Samer IssawiWe are spending a lot of time campaigning for the freedom of Samer Issawi and all other Palestinian prisoners, so no wonder his image is on my mind a lot.

Samer Issawi has given our struggle new inspiration, with his courageous defiance of the horrors of the dungeons of the Zionist occupation. In fact, the Palestinian people need Samer. Just the same, Samer Issawi needs us too.

On day 238 of his legendary hunger strike, I have drawn his image, hoping that a hand-drawn image of his picture provides yet an other outlet to my expression of support for this tremendously valiant and inspiring man. Click on the thumbnail to see a larger version of it.

I can’t help but think of how his family must be feeling, especially his mother. But I am confident that amid the feelings of deep grief, she also feels enormously proud of her heroic son. We, the Palestinian people, have now all become Samer’s family and are proud of him, and we are thankful to him for the way he has strengthened our spirit, and fed our resilience and determination.

Just as Samer goes on struggling for us, so will we for him.
