Doc Jazz has returned from Palestine. The purpose of his trip was to participate in the Palestinian singing talent show ‘Ghaneeha’ as a member of the jury. In this same visit, he was also filmed for a documentary about his life, and participated through Skype in the Israeli Apartheid Week in Gaza.

This is the third season of the program ‘Ghaneeha‘ (‘Sing It’), a Palestinian singing talent show based on the world famous formula of ‘American Idol’, where people have a chance to showcase their vocal talents. The show is being broadcast by the national Palestinian TV station Wattan TV, and is being organized by the EDC (Education and Development Committee).

The role of Doc Jazz in this show was to participate in the jury panel of the auditions. These were held consecutively in Hebron, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Nablus and Ramallah. The contestants were young people between the age of 16 – 25, and predominantly presented Arabic songs varying from classical to folkloric, and patriotic to modern genres. Contestants were required to sing a capella (without any accompaniment), although one contestant was allowed to enter with a guitar.
